After a great success in 2010, here we are again to make 2011 a greater success. All under the same roof,  The Darwin Entertainment Centre (See map)

Darwin International Latin Dance Festival is undoubtedly the biggest and best Latin dance event ever to be staged in Darwin. 

We invite all the Bailarinos who want to escape from their daily routine or the freezing cold winter to join us at the 7th Darwin International Latin Dance Festival in the tropical Northern Territory of Australia. This is a Festival that offers you loads of fun, sun and Latin Dancing. On a grand scale, this spectacular event is sure to entice anyone who is in love with the Latin rhythms.

The Festival includes the Main event FIESTA CALIENTE showcasing exhilarating performances, parties, workshops and now an exotic Wilderness Salsa Tour to the Leitchfield National Park (New Feature).

So, now is your time to shine and enjoy doing what you like most! This is your opportunity to increase your knowledge, by attending the workshops conducted by world recognized instructors, covering all the exciting dance styles such as: Salsa O1 and On2, Casino Rueda, Zouk-Lambada, Cha-Cha, Bachata, Merengue, Ladies and Men Styling, and much more... Catering for all levels from first timers to the more advance

So you think 2010 was a great festival? Wait till you see what is coming your way for 2011. It will be a festival to blow you away with some of the best international national and local artists bringing together some incredible show and workshop, yet to be seen in Darwin.

This year we are giving you a chance to party in the wilderness, in fantastic and unique tour to Litchfield National Park. There will be live band on Friday and Saturday to give that extra spice we all need in a Latin party  

 

Giancarlo y Masha (NZ)

 

Giancarlo y Masha: Current and undefeated New-Zealand professionals Salsa Campions. As a couple, they dance with style, energy, professionalism and precision. Together they have performed and taught in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangalore, Miami, Los Angeles, Hamburg, Gold Coast and more. They are the choreographers, instructors and directors of New Zealand's most popular and successful student salsa team - TEAM Latinissimo.

Gregory Campillo y Jesica Diaz (SPAIN)


Gregory Campillo y Jesica Diaz: They are dance partner since 2007. They are dancers recognized  thanks to their salsa fusions with Hip-hop, house dance, reggaeton, bboying and their spectacular and dangerous acrobatics.
Like dance partner they have been soloists of diverse TV programs and they have been invited by the best artists to record their music videos.
In these years they have taken part in the principal congresses of salsa around the world, performing their original shows and teaching, mainly salsaton and salsa-hip hip, where they mix their two passions, salsa and hip hop, in funny and very intense classes.

Nestor y Katrina (NSW AUSTRAIA)

 

Nestor y Katrina: Synonymous with Bachata and Salsa in Australia, Nestor (one of the founders and Directors of the Sydney International Bachata festival) and Katrina have taught Salsa and Bachata all over the world and Australia.

Australias first and prominent bachata exports, they have represented Australia in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bali, Malaysia, Singapore, Auckland, Hong Kong, Rome, Milan, London, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and the list goes on.Nearly every corner of the world has been exposed to their funky and fun style of Bachata which encompasses many styles fused to make them one of the most versatile bachata couples in the world.Recognised for energy, flair, fun and musicality in their choreographies, Nestor and Katrina are the 2 x Times Australian Bachata Team Championships teams and 5 x Australian Salsa Champions .

World class salsa dancers, Nestor’s Modus Vivendi are 5 x Australian Team Champions and are the only Australian team to ever make the World Salsa Championships Finals and the only team in the world to make the finals 4 years consecutively. http://modusvivendisalsa.com.au/

 

Alisson y Audrey (WA AUSTRALIA)

Alisson Sandi Alisson hails from Brazil, São Paulo. His arrival into Perth in 2007, blew the top off the Latin dance world. He has made himself an integral part of the Juan Rando Dance Academy as the main Brazilian Dance Instructor where he teaches Brazilian Zouk, Samba de Gafieira, Argentine tango, Salsa, Forró and Axé. Alisson is also qualified in Salsa On1 and On2, Bolero, Tango, West Coast swing, and more. Having taught a variety of these styles in Brazil and around the world he is a great asset to the dance studio in Perth.

Audrey Isautier Audrey is a recognized Brazilian Zouk dancer living and working in Perth Western Australia. Born in Reunion Island, she began to dance at the age of 3, with a background in contemporary, ballet, jazz and Bharatanatyam (traditional Indian dance) and she has performed and danced with many different companies around Reunion.

Her arrival in Australia changed her dancing path as she began to train in Latin dance styles such as Salsa, Bachata, Tango, Brazilian Zouk and Samba de Gafieira. She has worked hard and is currently working as a dance Instructor and Coreographer at the Juan Rando Dance Academy located in Subiaco, Western Australia.

Steve y Alexandra (VIC AUSTRALIA)

The dynamic duo of Stee Maltez & Alexandra Tsoutouras have been a force for quite some time now and constantly perform both in their own country and around the world. Specializing in “aerial dance” within the form of Salsa, this has given them the reputation of one of the most amazing, daring, death defying aerial dance acts anywhere!

Peter y Raquel (NSW & ACT AUSTRALIA)

Raquel Paez & Peter Ricciardo
Raquel  has been dancing Salsa for over a decade, and has choreographed & performed for the 2006 Los Angeles West Coast Salsa Congress, the Latin Dance Collective Team in 2007 & the NY Salsa Congress in 2010 to name a few. Peter & Raquel met in London in 2006 & brought together by their love of Mambo they married in Canberra in 2009. Their connection is not only seen on the dance floor, but also when they teach. They have taught at the Sydney Salsa Congress 2011, and the Adelaide Salsa Festival (2011). Together they make a strong salsa duo!

 

 

 

NT Local Artists

Venaska Chelliah (Bollywood)

Venaska is a young artist who has had extensive training in Indian classical dance styles and is also a proficient Bollywood teacher and dancer. Venaska is showing her work of the Indian contemporary classical dance. Her choreography cuts through the space around her through definite, deft, and strong movements which belie her age and reassures viewers of her competence and extensive experience within this genre both here and overseas.

Thora Waho (Let's Zumba)

Thora started Zumba classes late 2009 with 6 friends in class this has now grown to over 200 students over 5 venues in Darwin and the suburbs including Palmerston.  You may not know her name but is referred to the “The Zumba Girl”!

ZUMBA is the biggest craze sweeping the world by storm – what makes is popular???

The  Zumba® program fuses unique hypnotic Latin inspired rhythms and easy-to-follow moves it’s a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away.

Zumba is designed for all levels you do not need to be a dancer or instructor to participate in a zumba class, the ladies love it,  cause they don’t need a partner!!! 

Sara Gagliardo (Famenco)

Born in Italy Rome 1990 and later move to Australia, Sara have danced all her life at school events, functions, and though dancing clubs. It was the year of 2003 when she first was first introduced to flamenco dance at a live performance.

The dance captured her imaginations and she soon learned that Flamenco was an irresistible art of dance.

By watching performances in all sorts of ways she learned to dance Flamenco.

It has been three year now that she have been performing Flamenco around Darwin for various functions.

Sara enjoy dancing. When she hear the passionate rhythms of Flamenco, it quickly becomes the only dance that captures and excites her sole.

 

Salsita Dance School (Salsa)

Since 1998 Salsita have been teaching and choreographing performances for teams and couples. Salsita dancers have performed and continue performing in a variety of Darwin venues and functions such as: Discovery, Sky City Casino, Moorish Café, Wedding Expo Private Functions just to mention a few.

 

Darwin Latin Dance Festival 2011 comprises two nights of parties and performances and two full days of workshops; Friday: Salsa Widerness tour, Pre-Heat party and shows . Saturday: Allday workshop and Fiesta Caliente main event staging exhilarating performances by Inernational, National and Local artists followed by part y . Sunday: All day workshops followed by Farewell BBQ The Enterprise (34, Grevillea circuit Nightcliff).

The Show
The Darwin Latin Dance Festival 2011 includes 2 nights spectacular shows by International, National and local artists whipping audiences into a frenzy with their amazing, energetic and 'High Voltage' shows, sharing their passion through their choreographies of Latin Dance with you, that will keep you on the edge.

The Workshops
The Darwin Latin Dance Festival 2011 includes over 20 different workshops taught by some world reknowned Latin Dance Instructors. You can learn Salsa ON-1, ON-2, Styling, Samba-de-Gafieira, Bachata, Zouk-Lambada, Kizomba, Cha Cha, Cuban Salsa and much more.  Whether you're a beginner or an advanced dancer, you will find a workshop to suit your level of expertise.

The Parties
Each night of the Darwin Latin Dance Festival there will be a party night with DJs and hundreds of dancers,  highlighting the "Fiesta Caliente" with over fourteen different shows of Latin dance styles including Salsa, Ball-room Latin, Zouk-Lambada, Hip-Hop, samba, Belly-Dance, and much more. The parties represent a great opportunity to dance and make friends with people. Some of the best National dancers will be ready and willing to give you a spin on the dance floor, not to mention our local talent.

The Darwin Latin Dance Festival 2011 represents excellent value for money. Full-Pass, which allows you to access all workshops, parties and shows, have been carefuly regulated to be afordable and good value to you.
